2024 Games Showcase

The annual Showcase returns on May 18th.

Place: Clark Atrium, Physical Sciences Building Date: Saturday, May 18 Time: 1-4 pm

With the end of the semester, we are once again having the annual GDIAC Showcase. Last year we had the strongest selection of games in a decade. And while that is a pretty high bar, our students are working this year to do even better. The Showcase will include student game projects from the past year. This includes both a large collection of PC and mobile games.

One of the exciting new changes this year is that we are adding the Steam Deck to our line up. This hot new hand-held device has changed how people interact with out games, and several student teams have been designing for it as their primary platform.

Here is just a sample of some of the projects that you will see at our Showcase.

Heaven’s Devils: One of our two Steam Deck titles, this action game has you control a hellhound protecting the gates of heaven from other demons. Use a wide variety of powers to fend of the unceasing hordes.

Catacombs: This action game is set in ancient Egypt, were you are a cat that can possess enemies and have them fight for you. It mixes a playful art style with some interesting strategic depth.

Hellfrost: This mobile game is sliding-block puzzle game where you crash enemies into each other. Already one of the most addictive games this semester, it combines the appeal of games like Grindstone and 2048.

Heartbeat: In this rhythm action game, you a white blood cell that has to make its way to sick and infected areas. But you have to move to the beat of the heart, or you will not make it in time.

Animal Spies: In this 1v1 multiplayer mobile game, players protect their bases with a selections of crazy traps, from banana peels to jars of bees. Players then race through each others base, trying to avoid the traps and run away with their opponent’s secrets.

Le Petite Raccoon: This mixture of time management and stealth is Raccacoonie, the video game. You have an ever increasing number of diners showing up at your restaurant, so your raccoon chef has to go steal the ingredients you need to feed them.

For more information on our games, as it becomes available, see our dedicated Showcase page.

The Showcase is open to the general public, so that everyone can play and experience these projects. Masking is not required, though we are respectful of attendees that wish to wear them. There is limited parking available behind the Physical Sciences Building adjacent to the Bailey Hall performance center. In addition it is a short walk from Uris Hall, which is supported by TCAT Route 51 on the weekends.

In addition to the exhibits, the public is welcome to vote for the favorite in the award ceremony at the end. Come see what all of the excitement is about, and support our students!
