2022 Games Showcase

As the semester ends, it is time once again for the GDIAC Showcase. The Showcase will include student game projects from the past year. We have a large number of exhibtions, including projects from CS/INFO 3152, CS/INFO 4152 and independent studies.

After two years of virtual events, we are once again holding this Showcase in-person. While our virtual Showcases were a huge success, the students missed the excitement of a true public exhibition. The mobile games were particularly affected, as they do not lend themselves to streaming as well as more traditional computer games.

The students have taken advantage of this opportunity with a lot of interesting games that will do well in an in-person setting. Here is a just a taste of some of the games that will be at Showcase.

Low-Control Mall Patrol: This 4-vs-1 multiplayer mobile game puts four cops up against a wily thief. But the cops are all on Segways, and have a hard time maneuvering the crowded mall.

Yeti, Set, Go: In another 4-vs-1 multiplayer mobile game, four climbers attempt to scale a mountain using grappling hooks and flamethrowers. But one player is the Yeti, who threatens to freeze climbers in their tracks.

Disco Dale: Your character in this game is chameleon trying to escape a rave that has gone wrong. The unique mixture of fast-paced action and simple stealth mechanics goes well with the heavy techno beat permeating this game.

Cephalonaut: You might not think that octopi make good astronauts. But tentacles really come in handy when you are trying to navigate a zero-G environment.

Plume: In this unusual platformer, you are Cupid with a magic quiver of arrows. You must use your powers to safely escort two lovers so that they can once again be reunited.

The Showcase is open to the general public, so that everyone can play and experience these projects. We understand that not everyone is comfortable with returning to large in-person events. We will be taking precautions to make the experience as safe as we can. We have moved to the Physical Sciences Building, which as a large, open, and well-ventilated atrium. And while we do not require masks of attendees, all our presenters will be wearing masks out of respect for the audience. For more information, see our dedicated Showcase page.
